SECOND SIGHT (tm)
306 Arbor Drive
Lexington, NC 27292
(704) 249-1331
I've included six sample files created with ANSIEd for you to load and
experiment with (and possibly get some ideas from) and each is described
below:
MB.ANSI
~~~~~~~
This is a version of our BBS title screen. The starfield looks a bit better
in color - notice the use of the colors to give a sense of depth, even though
there are really only 2 basic characters used.
GRAPE.ANSI
~~~~~~~~~~
This is a sample BBS menu which we don't use now. The scene is intended to
be an A2000 sitting on a table with one of the "chief grapes" that manages
the Grapevine section standing beside it.
FLAG.ANSI
~~~~~~~~~
Simply an American flag.
EASTER.ANSI
~~~~~~~~~~~
Since ANSI has a standard "fixed" color set, it's sometimes difficult to find
an exact color match for something, in which case you have to improvise. The
shades of green, yellow, magenta, and cyan make Easter screens easy though.
FILE.ANSI
~~~~~~~~~
A version of our BBS file transfers menu. The diskette in the top corner is
the real trick. Move the ANSIEd cursor over it to decipher the characters
used to create it. Drawing with characters and changing the colors and
styles is more versatile than you might think.
MAIN.ANSI
~~~~~~~~~
On our system, I chose to color-code the menus and menu items corresponding
to them. This is a version of our BBS main menu with the addition of the
familiar Amiga [tm] checkmark. It would be fairly simple to create the
Boing! ball as well but I'll leave that exercise to you.
The BBS menus depicted herein may not be the same ones used on our BBS at
the time. We are now running WILDCAT! BBS software on an IBM compatible
system. BBS-PC! for the Amiga [tm] seems to chop ANSI files up rather badly
and we don't recommend using it for a BBS system.
I hope these screens and the demo version of ANSIEd are enticing enough for
you to get the "REAL" thing. See "Demo.doc" for information.
